10yrs: 50m free, back and breast, 25m fly.
11/12yrs: 50m free, back and breast, 25m fly.

Swimming events are back
After a period of absence swimming Gala's and events back on.
This coming season we are looking to compete in a number of events from St Thomas Arbroath and the Midland District.
Midland District Team Gala - 17th Sept, 21st Jan & 19th Feb
St Thomas winter graded Meet - 4th Dec
Midland District Age Group Championships - 23rd oct, 6th Nov & 20th Nov

Midland District Team Gala Event
“Midlands District League Gala ( team event, swimmers will be selected to swim in the team)
Date: 17th September 2pm warm up
Pool: Montrose swimming pool
Age: on day, 10 and under, 11-12yrs, 13-14yrs and 15 and over
Distance: 10 and under 50m all others 100m, mixed relay
Date: 21st January 2023 2.30pm warm up

St Thomas Winter Graded Meet
St Thomas Winter Graded Meet (individual event) all day

Distance: all strokes 100m, all strokes and IM 200m
Closing date: 4th November

Midland District Age Group Championships
Midland District Age Group Championships (individual event) don’t have to take part in every gala. All day. Swimmers must swim a certain time to take part.

Age group: 11-13yrs, 14yrs, 15yrs, 16yrs and 17Age and over.
Distance: 50m, 100m 200m
Date: 6th November 2022

Distance: 50m, 200m and relay

PB GALA DETAILS
AGE GROUPS: 9&U, 10yrs, 11/12yrs, 13/14yrs, 15+.
Age is as of December 31st.
Everyone in L2T and T2T is encouraged to enter.
Events are as follows:
9&U; 25m free, back and breast, no fly.
10yrs: 50m free, back and breast, 25m fly.
11/12yrs: 50m free, back and breast, 25m fly.
13/14yrs: 50m free, back, breast and fly.
15+: 50m free, back, breast and fly.
Points are awarded if swimmers achieve personal bests. No points for place.
Points from March 2022 and September PB galas are added together for overall awards.
PB > 1s gets 3 points
PB 1s or less gets 2 points
First time PB gets 2 points.
For swimming and no PB they get 1 point.
Points are added up over the 3 or 4 strokes.
Spread sheet that reads all the PBS and automatically compares swim time with old PB and awards points will be set up in advance.
PB Gala Rules
For 9&under the rules for Breaststroke will be relaxed.
The stroke must look like breaststroke in that it should be mostly symmetrical and the swimmer must be mostly on the surface of the water.
Repeated or continuous alternating kick, arms back beyond hip line, or any continuous non-simultaneous movements of arms or legs is not allowed. Strokes should mostly alternate 1 pull, 1 kick.
Swimmers must stay on their front throughout the race.
Both hands must touch wall at the same time (simultaneously) at the finish.
This is to allow for swimmers to make small mistakes in the underwater phase at the start or during the swim.
All other age groups the breaststroke will be judged to Fina rules.
All other strokes will be judged to Fina rules.
